For those of you playing along, trying to guess where Dan and I are planning to go for our 40th anniversary (a year from now), clue #2 is shown below. Oh, and don't forget, the first one to guess correctly will win a prize - a souvenir from the destination.
Now, some of you have emailed me with a guess, but please submit your guesses as blog comments. That way other people can read and learn places that have been eliminated. Feel free to guess again, with each new clue. So far two places have been submitted: New England and Alaska. Both are wrong, but keep trying Genie and Gloria!

I was going to guess Australia, but I see someone already did that, so now I will go back to my originsl guess and say Japsn. I know you have wanted to go there for a long time. Mom
Genie, what a great guess, because it was one of the places that was "in the running" before we made our final decision. But you'll have to guess again!
Mom, you're right that Japan is somewhere we've dreamed of going, for many years -- especially so we could see some of our Japanese "sons." But . . . not this time. Guess again :-)
It seems a but unfair since I just read a couple of places that were eliminated....

Funny, though. Dan did talk about Greece. He remembers Chuck and Nelda H. talking about going there and loving it. So we did consider it. But it lost out! Keep trying! The clues will get more informative as time goes on.

Hi again, Anonymous (GR??? I think so). Nope, not Oregon. Those watermelons sound good, but you're right -- we wouldn't need a passport to go there. Keep trying!
I got an email from LPD with the following guess. I thought I'd add it here, so everyone can get the benefit of another guess:
