This morning, for the first time this season, we switched the thermostat from "cool" to "heat." And when we stepped outside to meet Tim for breakfast, we were surprised at the chill that was in the air. Then we saw it - what we used to call "termination dust" in Alaska - the first dusting of snow on the mountain, which signals summer's end.

It's not exactly Thunder Mountain, but the portent is much the same. When "majesty" looms over your neighborhood, every view communicates power, presence, and permanance. The changes are merely the decor of changing seasons and remind us of our own transient character. Better save an albumfull of photos of of these grand mountains; you'll need them in back where there is no barrier to weather. You'll miss your "anchors" from Albuquerque like I miss my "wall" towering over the Mendenhall Valley.
Beautiful!
Love,
